‘Vivi’ – Am Champion Bohem C’est La Vie
Photo: Westminster Kennel Club (AP Photo)
Vivi is formally known as Champion Bohem C’est La Vie, pictured above in happier days, winning an Award of Merit at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show under judge Dorothy Hutchinson on Feb 14th 2006.
Our thoughts are with poor Vivi and her owners & breeder. We send a heart felt wish for her safe return soon. Anyone who has lost a Whippet can relate to the trauma being felt, so we sincerely trust there is a positive resolution quickly.
Detailed Daily Updates by her breeder Bo Bengston can be found at the American Whippet Club site. There are several articles and pictures on the Newday site.
You can see one of the most recent stories on USA’s ABC TV Program and our initial post on Vivi is on our Weblog.

Our outgoing parti-coloured bitch ‘Lippie’ is a strong mover and has done extremely well for a black & white whippet. She has won several All-Breeds Champ Show Class “In Group” awards, as well as three Specialty Show, “Class In Shows”. A great acheivement for a black & white bitch among strong competition.
Her solid black mother ‘Alie” is a super adgility and obedience champ and her owner, Sandra Pilgrim, Lippie’s breeder has acheived some ground-breacking awards with her impecably trained whippets.
In a stunning Sydney victory, Lippie won “Best Puppy In Show” at the NSW Whippet Association Specialty 2003, under sighthound Specialist judge, Mrs Linda Scanlon (USA). The following year in ’04, Lippie won “Best Junior In Show” at the same Sydney Specialty Show, under sighthound Specialist judge, Mrs Jocelyn Gagne (Canada).
Later that same day, she also won “Best Junior In Show” at the NSW Sighthound Specialty Show 2004, under Whippet Specialist judge, Mr George Kostopoulos (Greece).
In her final show, Lippie took 6th Place in a large class at our 1st National Whippet Specialty Show 2004, under whippet authority Ms Mary Lowe of the renowned ‘Nimrodel’ Whippets in the UK.
I thank her breeder, Ms Sandra Pilgim for allowing me to own this beautiful, loving “Lady”, so true to her name.

Congratulations to breeder Stephen McMorrow and owners Molly Rule-Steele and the Taejaan girls for – BISS Aust Ch Marchpast The Emblem (imp UK) – “Best In Specialty Show” win, judged by Mr Martin Saunders (UK).
Perfect Sydney weather ensured a great day for showing dogs. Many other specilaty shows on at the same time at the Castle Hill Showgrounds made for a very social weekend, seeing fellow exhibitor friends there from all over the country.
Well done to all the winners and place-getters. The Sydney Whippet Club did a great job on what proved to be an enjoyable day and looking forward to their Specialty show again in late September this year.

After much research and planning, ‘Chelsea’ was offered by an inspiring fellow breeder from Queensland, allowing me the use this prized Fawn Parti bitch. I want to dearly thank her breeder & owner, Lana McCrindle of Aslan Whippets for leasing me her cherished Chelsea, who is line-bred to ‘Bobby’ Aust Ch Grau Ace O Diamonds, a striking dog who is the son of two of my favourite overseas whippets.
- Aust Ch Denhills Deligate (imp UK)
‘Trex’ was a Multiple “Best In Show” winner and one of my favourite English imports. He is the pinnacle of the internationally renowned ‘Denhills’ breeding, with some of the most sought after ancestors in the UK. He was a striking White & Fawn Brindle Parti possessing a majestic appeal, incredibly winning the 1988 National Dog System # 1 Whippet in Australia, as well as being # 2 Hound, all within JUST 8 MONTHS out of quarantine! By late 1988, having been in Australia a matter of months, he had already won 4 “Best In Show” awards, 3 “Reserves In Show”, 10 “Best In Group” and Multiple “Best of Breed” and “In Show” awards.
- Doriana Dulcine (imp NZ)
‘Suzie’ was an amazing Black & White, bred from the old English ‘Laguna’ lines, being by two of Mrs Dorrit McKays racing & coursing exports, NZ Ch Laguna Lussac (imp UK) and Laguna Luciana (imp UK). She won “Best In Group” at an All-Breeds Championship show, under a breed specialist judge, as well as “Best In Group” at an Open show. Her magnificent form and rare colouring is an immense inspiration to me and her limited bloodline is greatly valued.

‘Beryl’ is very outgoing and has unique character. She’s a Class “Best In Group” winning solid white bitch, co-owned with her breeder, Allen Anderson whilst being shown in Adelaide and South Australia. She is a wonderful type and an excellent mover having had some very positive comments from several leading whippet breeders and judges.
Beryl took 6th Place (at only her fourth show), in a large, very strong class at our 1st National Whippet Specialty Show 2004, under the highly acclaimed international whippet authority Mrs Mary Lowe of the renowned ‘Nimrodel’ whippets in the UK. She was handled by Lana McCrindle of ‘Aslan’ whippets in Queensland. Her solid black kennel-mate ‘Satia’ took 3rd place in the same Class!
At the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2005, she won 1st Intermediate Bitch, judged by Hound Specialist Mr Johannsen (Sweden), in a huge class of Champions and leading winners.
Beryl also won a “Best of Breed” among some strong competition at the ACT Kennel Club Show in Canberra 2005, under Mrs S McMahon (NSW) and was among her “cut” of four for “Best In Group”, during a “Crufts” qualifying weekend with some our leading whippets entered.
We dearly thank Beryl’s breeder Allen who will be exhibiting Beryl in Adelaide after mid 2006. Allen has retained the litter sister ‘Ronnie’, a multi Class “In Group” winner and has exported their other sister ‘Sara’ to Denmark, where she has been winning various Class “In Show” awards. All three sisters have wonderful, elegant qualities and we look forward to Sara’s proposed mating this year and to her return from Denmark accompanied by one of her special pups.
We look forward to the future for Beryl as she has developed quite nicely and is showing some promising potential.

Our famous solid Black stud dog bred by Gian Zovi & Co-Owned with Patrick Estalote was born 1st January 2002. ‘Gabbo’ is a remarkably affectionate, yet very outgoing whippet who has been our primary solid Black show and stud dog. His wonderful breeding is reflected in this beautiful whippet.
Gabbo’s early show wins include placing 2nd Puppy Dog (from 8 entries) at The Victorian Whippet Association Specialty 2002, under the internationally renowned Whippet breeder & Breed Specialist judge, Mrs June Minns of the famous ‘JUNERIC’ kennels in the UK. Gabbo placed equal 4th on the Victorian Whippet Club’s Point Score 2003 (from 32 Pups).
He’s been campaigned throughout Australia attaining several wins including “Best Minor Puppy in Group”, at the Sale-Maffra Champion Show 2002, under judge Mrs Val Morrow (NSW). Gabbo won “Best Opposite Junior in Show” at the Whippet Club of NSW Specialty 2003, under Whippet Specialist judge and renowned sighthound breeder, Ms Molly Rule-Steele of ‘Taejaan’ kennels.
Memorable to many local Whippet enthusiasts was him taking 2nd Intermediate Dog at the Royal Melbourne Show 2003, under Hound Specialist judge Mr Desmond Murphy (USA); a very rare achievement for a solid Black amongst strong competition.
At Australia’s 1st National Whippet Specialty Show held in September 2004, Gabbo placed 3rd Intermediate Dog (to our solid Blue ‘Monte’ who took 2nd!) in a very strong class (among several Champions, Imports and even a Grand Champion!) under breed specialist Mr Magnus Hagstedt of ‘Signum’ Whippets, Sweden. Mr Hagstedt’s critique states “Curvy with excellent depth”.
